Comments on the Proposals to Strengthen Disability Discrimination Protections

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights (HHS OCR) proposed regulatory updates to Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act to expand discrimination protections for people with disabilities. These updates align Section 504 with the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Olmstead Decision, and other key improvements in disability policy and law, as well as incorporate several changes related to healthcare access and accessibility. The MLTSS Association provided comments largely in support the new provisions, noting our continuing commitment to provide accessible, high-quality, and integrated care to individuals with disabilities, and sought clarification on certain definitions and other technical criteria.
