On June 3, 2019, the MLTSS Association joined the Association For Community Affiliated Plans (ACAP) in submitting letters to leaders in both the House and Senate supporting the Stabilize Medicaid and CHIP Coverage Act of 2019 (SMCA). The Association believes that this bill will help improve the efficiency and continuity of care for tens of millions of individuals enrolled in Medicaid and CHIP. By proposing a 12-month continuous enrollment period, SMCA will dramatically improve continuity of coverage for enrollees, minimize the cycle of Medicaid enrollment and disenrollment known as “churning,” and reduce administrative expenses.
